Sometimes God expands the vision by showing us the need. What began as an experience for women is becoming an opportunity to surround mothers and families with compassion, resources, and community. Together, we can turn compassion into impact. — The Purpose Journal | Every purpose has a story.

As we prepare for the Maternal Equity Experience and our Virtual Community Baby Shower, I've been reflecting on a moment that completely shifted my perspective.

A few weeks ago, I was getting ready for a dentist appointment—something I'm never exactly excited about. Just as I was heading out the door, I received a notification that a YouTuber I follow was going live.

That almost never happens.

Something inside me felt prompted to tune in.

Looking back, I know it wasn't by accident.

An Unexpected Encounter

She began sharing about an encounter she had earlier that day.

While out running errands, she noticed a man who was clearly experiencing homelessness. Her heart was moved with compassion, so she bought him a meal and began gathering supplies she thought he might need—water, snacks, wipes, and a sleeping bag.

A member of the hotel staff purchased the items on her behalf for the gentleman.

But when she returned to the park...

She couldn't find him.

As she searched, she noticed a couple pushing what appeared to be a stroller filled with belongings.

At first, she assumed they were using it to transport their personal items.

Then she realized...

There was a baby inside.

As she described the condition of the baby's bottle and clothing, my heart was grieved.

A Growing Reality

Sadly, what she described isn't an isolated story.

We're living in a season where many families are facing financial hardship unlike anything they've experienced before.

Jobs have been lost.

Housing has become increasingly difficult to afford.

The cost of food, childcare, and everyday necessities continues to rise.

Families who were once financially stable now find themselves making impossible decisions.

I understand that reality more than many people realize.

I've experienced what it's feels like to go from earning a six-figure income to having no income within a matter of months.

I know what it feels like to watch life change almost overnight.

And I know I'm not alone.

Behind every statistic is a real family.

A real mother.

A real child.

A real story.

A Seed Was Planted

After the livestream ended, I couldn't stop thinking about what I had heard.

I wanted to help.

But I also wanted wisdom.

I didn't want to simply respond to one moment.

I wanted God to show me how Aligned Purpose Agency could become part of a lasting solution.

Then, on what seemed like an ordinary day...

The idea came.

The Virtual Community Baby Shower was born.

More Than a Baby Shower

The Virtual Community Baby Shower will take place during the Maternal Equity Experience.

Our hope is to bless as many women as possible—not only those who are currently expecting, but also women who are still believing and praying to become mothers one day.

As the vision continued to grow, I realized we could do even more.

We began reaching out to local women's shelters with the hope of partnering together.

Our desire is to provide boxes filled with essential baby items for mothers who need encouragement during one of the most challenging seasons of their lives.

I think about the mother who fled an abusive relationship with little more than the clothes on her back.

The mother working full-time but still struggling to provide for her family.

The mother trying to rebuild her life one day at a time.

Every family's story is different.

But the need is often the same.

People need help.

We Weren't Called to Reinvent the Wheel

One thing I've learned over the years is that meaningful impact rarely happens alone.

Aligned Purpose Agency isn't trying to reinvent what incredible organizations are already doing.

Instead, we want to come alongside them.

Our vision is to partner with churches, businesses, nonprofits, healthcare organizations, and community leaders so that together we can meet needs that none of us could meet alone.

When purpose aligns...

Impact multiplies.

An Invitation to Join the Story

If this vision resonates with you, I'd love to invite you to become part of it.

Perhaps you could share the Maternal Equity Experience with your church, women's ministry, company, or community organization.

If you're in the Raleigh-Durham area, consider organizing a baby essentials collection drive.

If you live elsewhere, consider partnering financially with our Virtual Community Baby Shower.

Every contribution helps us provide resources to mothers living in local women's shelters and allows us to bless families participating in the conference.

No gift is too small when it's given with compassion.

Coming Full Circle

In one of my earlier Purpose Journal entries, I shared about Divine Assistance—the nonprofit organization I started more than a decade ago.

Recently, I found the original brochure.

Reading the mission brought tears to my eyes because it reminded me that although the organization changed, God's assignment never did.

It read:

"To raise awareness of the issues contributing to broken homes by providing families with Scripture-based resources and programs that produce successful individuals and healthy families within the community."

Eleven years later...

That mission still lives in my heart.

Only now, God has given it a new expression through Aligned Purpose Agency.

Sometimes we think God has forgotten the vision He placed inside us.

But perhaps...

He's simply preparing the right season for it to grow.

Thank you for walking this journey with me through The Purpose Journal.

If you'd like to partner with us, I invite you to visit our Partnership page to learn more about how you can help us make a lasting impact—one family at a time.
